It’s hard to believe that residency is almost over. Over the course of the past three years, I’ve grown and developed so much as a psychiatrist. Yet there is still a lot to learn, and during PGY-4 I plan to take full advantage of the abundant resources and opportunities that this program offers before moving on to my next steps. I split my time between three settings now: the residency outpatient continuity clinic, the Home Base Program, and the Center for Anxiety and Traumatic Stress Disorders. The first allows me to continue to care for a diversity of patients with whom I’ve developed rapport since PGY-2; the second enables me to learn about the needs of post-9/11 military veterans; and the third gives me a space to hone my research interests in trauma/PTSD and access to care. My supervisors and colleagues in all three settings are tremendous, and I cannot thank them enough for making my experience in residency thus far so meaningful and educational.
